The Fertility Clinic works with couples trying to conceive naturally and with those pursuing IUI and IVF for male factor fertility issues. Acupuncture, supplements and herbs have been successfully shown to increase sperm counts and motility, and to decrease abnormal morphology.
Sperm factors have been shown to account for over 30% of infertility, and up to 60% of couples seeking fertility treatment may also have a male factor component. Acupuncture and Chinese medicine offer treatment options to improve sperm count, motility and morphology.
Male sub-fertility generally results in a combination of abnormal laboratory test results. Chinese medicine is very effective in improving the overall quality and quantity of sperm for the majority of men. For men incorporating IUI, IVF, or ICSI, Chinese medicine can greatly contribute to the success of these procedures.
At The Fertility Clinic, a treatment plan may involve one or both partners, and may incorporate various combinations of nutritional supplements, herbal formulae, acupuncture and lifestyle modifications.
We recommend a minimum of 3 months of treatment for men with sub-optimal semen parameters to address the full 90-day process of sperm maturation. Acupuncture and other holistic treatments can be incorporated into a plan that involves IUI and IVF to increase the success of the fertility procedure. For men preparing for IVF or IUI, acupuncture treatment beginning 3 months prior to the fertility treatments is ideal for better quality sperm. If you are already undergoing western procedures, acupuncture can contribute to a successful procedure at any stage.
The Fertility Clinic works with couples trying to conceive naturally and with those pursuing IUI and IVF for male factor fertility issues.
Often, we see couples who have had sub-optimal semen analysis who choose to pursue holistic treatment options before moving on to IUI. Treatment can incorporate just the male partner, or both partners.
When couples are pursuing IUI and IVF, we often recommend working with both the male and female partners to increase the success rates of the fertility procedure. We will discuss the timing and appropriateness of integrating acupuncture and other holistic modalities at the initial consultation, based upon the specific procedure and underlying fertility factors.
We include male factor advice as part of our female patients' treatment plans to ensure that both partners are increasing their reproductive health simultaneously. We strongly encourage a thorough male factor evaluation for all couples if they have not done so already.
Conditions of male infertility successfully treated at The Fertility Clinic include (but are not limited to) the following:
• Low sperm count
• Slow motility
• Poor morphology
• DNA fragmentation
• IUI and IVF support
